History of Our firm
Swope, Rodante, PA evolved from a solo practice first formed in 1979. Our firm ranges in size from eight to twelve attorneys, with a total of about 30 staff, including paralegals, legal assistants, administrative personnel, and investigators.
While we certainly have grown in order to meet the unique needs of our clients and special challenges of today’s legal environment, we made no effort to expand beyond our current size, and in fact believe strongly that our clients will best be served if we stay small. Also, unlike many law firms, we do not attempt to handle all types of legal matters. On the contrary, we have defined for this firm a tightly focused mission to handle only one thing: claims for people who have been catastrophically injured or the victims of insurance bad faith.
Automobile manufacturers like Lamborghini and Rolls-Royce existed and outperformed huge companies thousands of times their size. They did this by concentrating on producing the highest quality cars within a limited range. In that same spirit, we have focused our firm on civil litigation and trials, and seek to offer the finest representation possible within that field.
We do not seek to be real estate lawyers, or income tax lawyers, or securities lawyers, or bankers’ lawyers. There are other lawyers for those matters and we are happy to leave them quietly in their work.
We do no divorces, no criminal defense work, and do not try to write wills even for friends or family. In short, we do not intend for Swope, Rodante P.A. to be a legal jack-of-all-trades, but we do aspire to master just one: civil trial litigation.
Our professional achievements are reflected on separate pages of this website. We are proud of them and hope you will look them over. The other lawyers and staff of our firm are important to our success, and each one has been handpicked by us to be a member of our team. They are experienced professionals who are not afraid to fight many insurance companies and large law firms. Equally important, our people are also compassionate and understand that folks come to us because they need help during what may be the most stressful time of their lives.
Our capabilities are enhanced beyond that of many small firms by modern litigation support equipment and a complete on-site law library. That includes
subscription to the WESTLAW online, computerized, nationwide legal research system.
In addition, our firm’s experience significantly exceeds that of most firms its size. While we are prohibited from listing the results of specific cases, it is permissible to disclose that we have, in the aggregate, handled claims for our clients totaling multiple millions of dollars over the years.
However, we do not and will not represent insurance companies defending the claims of injured people. We believe if we did, it would be at least an informal conflict with the interests of our clients who are suing insurance companies. They need us to fight hard for legal positions every insurance company finds distasteful. We believe in that position and will do nothing to compromise it.
