Support for People with Disability

  • TBI Home – This is a peer support website for people living with brain injury, their families and friends to support each other by sharing their experiences.
  • Brain Injury Association of Florida – This link provides a list of support groups recommended by the Brain Injury Association of Florida.  The list is divided by county making it easy for you to get in contact with a support group coordinator near you.
  • Tampa General Hospital – Tampa General offers support groups for a number of different groups including a Brain Injury Family Support Group and a Spinal Cord Injury Education and Support Group.  Meeting information and contact information is included at this link.
  • Medical Information, Forums And Communities – MedHelp offers online forums for people to speak with others who have had similar medical experiences.
  • American Trauma Society – ATS is dedicated to the prevention of trauma and improvement of trauma care.  Their site includes a Trauma Information Exchange Program and a Trauma Survivor Network.
  • Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy Support Groups – This site is sponsored by the Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy Syndrome Association.  It provides links to support groups in most states.
  • The National Spinal Cord Injury Association – NSCIA provides a resource center to answer questions and a peer support network referral program linking people with SCI/D to each other.

Support for Survivors and Family Members Dealing with Traumatic Events

  • Grief Support Website- This website has a large quantity of links for anyone suffering grief over the loss of a loved one.  The site allows you to find a forum of individuals suffering a similar loss.
  • The Life Center of the Suncoast – The Life Center of Tampa offers emotional support, grief counseling, intervention, education and training in a compassionate and healing environment for people who find themselves  in times of traumatic loss.  They are dedicated to counseling people who are coping with the death of a loved one, victim a crime incident or a serious illness.
  • LifePath – LifePath Hospice offers a variety of grief and bereavement services for people suffering the loss of a loved one.  LifePath has services available for people of all ages including counseling aimed directly at assisting children through the loss of a loved one.
