The Swope, Rodante Vanguard Award Selection Board is pleased to share that King High School senior, Daniel Adewunmi, has been selected as the November Student Athlete of the Month. The mission of The Swope, Rodante Vanguard Award is to celebrate outstanding high school student athletes and coaches throughout Hillsborough County. Daniel will be presented the award as well as a $1,000 check to be donated to the school’s Athletic Department.
Daniel is part of the basketball team at King High School. He was nominated by his coach, Michael Weaving, for working hard to become the best player on the team and his dedication to give 100% in all the activities he participates in. Daniel has been team captain of the basketball for both his junior and senior year. He is team leading scorer, re-bounder, shot blocker, and steal leader. Additionally, he works with his younger teammates to improve their skills and better themselves.
A true example of a Swope, Rodante Vanguard Award Student Athlete of the Month, Daniel, volunteers his time at the tutoring center, as a Key Club Member, and as a Teen Bible Quiz Church Competitor. Even with his busy schedule, he has excelled in academics and maintained a 6.52GPA. After graduation, Daniel is planning to attend medical school.
