Matthew Smith joins the Swope, Rodante P.A. team bringing with him extensive litigation experience gained during his service as an active duty judge advocate in the United States Marine Corps. During his time in the Marine Corps, Mr. Smith represented clients during assignments to Japan, southern California, and Headquarters Marine Corps. Mr. Smith implements the lessons learned and fighting spirit gained from his service to represent victims of catastrophic personal injury, wrongful death, and insurance bad faith throughout Florida.
Mr. Smith is a double Gator, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, cum laude, from the University of Florida in 2004, and his Juris Doctor from the University of Florida Levin College of Law in 2007. He is admitted to practice in all Florida courts, the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida, and before military courts-martial.
Mr. Smith continues his service to the country as a Marine Corps reservist, currently assigned as an instructor at the Naval Justice School in Newport, RI. He also serves as a volunteer mentor for the Hillsborough County Veterans Treatment Court.
