On Friday, November 22nd, several school children from the Orlando area were injured after the private school passenger van carrying them collided with a pickup truck near the outskirts of Osceola County.
The traffic accident took place shortly after 3:00 p.m. at the intersection of Reaves and Pleasant Hill roads in the Poinciana region. In relation to the accident, a total of 13 people, nine of which were children, suffered various injuries. A regional Fox News affiliate television station had confirmed the van was part of an after-school program. However, it was not known exactly which area school the van was associated with.
One of the more seriously injured students was flown via medevac to Arnold Palmer Hospital with unspecified injuries. The remaining students were transported by ambulance to both Osceola Regional Hospital and Florida Hospital. Since the accident involved minors, none of the victims’ names or medical conditions could be publicly released.
The Fox News affiliate’s local new helicopter, Skywitness 9 HD, captured a shot of the accident scene showing a heavy duty pickup truck towing a trailer that appeared to be hauling a load of oranges. Still shots captured by the news helicopter showed the entire front of the truck smashed in. The precise nature of the collision was not confirmed and no word was provided on whether any citations or charges are pending in connection with the incident. The accident is currently under investigation.
