The Swope Rodante Vanguard Award Selection Board is pleased to share that Chamberlain High School senior Grace Weah has been selected as the “May Student Athlete of the Month.” The mission of The Swope Rodante Vanguard Award is to celebrate outstanding high school student athletes and coaches throughout Hillsborough County. Swope, Rodante, Newsome & Steinberg presented Grace with the award in addition to a $1,000 check that was donated to the school’s athletic department on Tuesday, May 19th during a school gathering.
Since moving to the United States from Ivory Coast, Africa she has excelled academically and athletically. In addition to participating in both track and flag football, Grace has maintained a 3.5 GPA while taking AP courses. After graduation, she plans to attend FAMU to earn a degree in business administration.
Grace also holds giving back to the community in high regard. She is a member of both the National Honor Society and the BETA Club. Additionally, she has accumulated more than 400 hours of community service at the Riverview Terrace Center, Metropolitan Ministries and a local animal shelter.
The Swope Rodante Vanguard Award program is incredibly proud to honor this exceptional student athlete’s achievements.
REQUIREMENTS FOR NOMINATED STUDENTS
• The student athlete’s name and year (juniors and seniors only);
• Current overall GPA (GPA of 3.0 or above);
• Sport and athletic achievements; Community involvement;
• Any hardships overcome by the student athlete;
• and Plans for continuing education.
