PRESS RELEASE: Hunter Berry Recognized with Swope, Rodante Vanguard Award
The Swope, Rodante Vanguard Award Selection Board is pleased to share that Bloomingdale High School senior, Hunter Berry, has been selected as the 2018 September Student Athlete of the Month. In a ceremony attended by members of the swim team, Bloomingdale Swim Coach, Eva Appleby, and Hunter’s grandparents, Hunter was presented with Swope, Rodante Vanguard Award and a $1,000 dollar check which was donated to Bloomingdale High School’s Athletic Department. Swope, Rodante Managing Partner, Angela Rodante presented the award to Hunter while fellow swim team members demonstrated their appreciation for Hunter and the leadership and determination he has exhibited over the past 4 years.
In addition to excelling academically and athletically, Hunter selflessly gives back to the community and he has volunteered for the Brandon Rams Football Team, as well as the Freshman Bull Camp where he helped orient incoming freshman. Even with his busy schedule and various extracurricular activities, he has maintained a GPA of 3.78. Through challenges and adversity, Hunter has maintained a positive attitude, truly coming into his own as a leader on Bloomingdale’s swim team, where he has put in the work to become a confident and accomplished swimmer. Along with leading by example, Hunter doesn’t hesitate to put in the extra hour and often mentors less experienced members of the swim team. After graduating from high school, he plans to pursue his bachelor’s degree at USF and major in Environmental Engineering.
Congratulations Hunter! We wish you the very best in all your future endeavors!
