Swope, Rodante P.A. is pleased to award Carla C. Winter the 2017 Swope Rodante Scholarship for Outstanding Philanthropic Efforts. Carla is a first-year MD-Ph.D. student in the Harvard-MIT Health Sciences and Technology Program and is currently researching the central nervous system and its potential capacity to regenerate.
Over the last 35 years, Swope, Rodante P.A. has fought for hundreds of clients who have suffered spinal cord injuries. Their passion and dedication to fighting for the best possible outcome for their clients has earned them national recognition as a leading law firm handling catastrophic injury cases.
Carla Winter experienced first hand the trauma, stress and uncertainty that a spinal cord injury inflicts upon a spinal cord 
injured individual and their loved ones. When her father sustained serious damage to his C6 and C7 vertebrae in a body surfing accident, he was confined to his bed for months of rehabilitation. Fortunately, Carla’s father made a full recovery, but the harrowing experience inspired Carla to focus her talents and pursue an academic career dedicated to moving the SCI field forward. Committed to exploring new and innovative approaches to regenerative medicine, Carla hopes her work will greatly impact the quality of life for SCI survivors. Through her dedication to giving hope to survivors, Carla is already creating a lasting, positive impact on SCI survivors and their loved ones.
